CRE Debt Products & Capital Flows: The impacts of regulation

23 November 2015 @ 17:30

This session is a follow-up seminar to the successful, over-subscribed event we held in April.  Over 90 have registered to join us at the offices of Clifford Chance LLP, 10 Upper Bank Street.  Walk-in registration is available on site from 17:30 on Monday 23 November.

We continue to see a frenzy of activity from financial regulators which shows little sign of abating. CRE and CRE debt markets have been impacted in multiple ways, but it is often difficult to see the logic behind those impacts.

The speakers will discuss how regulatory interventions are driving investor behaviours, capital flows and the relative attractiveness of different products. This seminar will focus on what market participants need to know about how regulatory change affects them and their competitors.  It is relevant to all CRE market participants and is not targeted at those in a legal/regulatory role.  Get up to speed on the current and anticipated impacts of regulation – register today.

• Capital Markets Union – What are the implications for CRE finance of the European Commission’s September 2015 proposals?

• The Commission’s proposals for securitisation, including a “simple, transparent and standardised” securitisation framework – good or bad for securitised CRE debt?

• Capital risk weighting of CRE loans and CMBS:
o Basel past, present and future – does the emerging framework for banks make sense?
o Solvency II’s (still evolving) risk weights for loans, infrastructure debt, debt fund investment, CMBS and covered bonds – how are insurers reacting?

• Recent developments in the European risk retention rules
o The basic framework compare to the US rules
o Boundary issues – are transactions like agency securitisation and loan on loan financings caught?
o How is the market responding?
o Implications of the September 2015 proposals

This session will be of interest to all CRE finance market participants.

Register to attend what we anticipate will be an insightful, thought-provoking educational session.
