We have an opportunity for a bright, enthusiastic and versatile individual to join our small, dynamic and hard-working team. The role provides an opportunity for someone early in his/her career to work in a rewarding environment, with significant scope for personal development and wide networking within the real estate finance industry. Read on for a brief overview of the organisation, the role and the kind of person that we think would be a good fit.
CREFC Europe is a trade association for the commercial real estate (CRE) finance market. Our core membership includes lenders (banks, institutional and private equity debt funds), investors in securitized CRE debt, loan servicing firms, law firms and various specialist advisers with an interest in the industry. We also have a number of real estate investors in our membership, broadening our ability to speak for CRE finance markets.
Our activities include organising educational, information sharing and networking events; bringing together industry groups to discuss or address particular topics; and representing our members on a collective basis and alongside other associations, to government and financial regulators.
Visit crefceurope.org for more details about the organisation.
The team is very small, friendly and supportive, but accustomed to working under pressure and to high standards – this is a demanding and rewarding place to work, not a sleepy, slow-paced non-profit. Our activities are continuously evolving, so a willingness to try new things, learn and adapt is vital. Everyone’s contribution is essential, and everyone is willing to help a colleague make a decision or solve a problem. Responsiveness and clear and timely communication are really important, both within the team and with our members and other contacts (especially with flexible working, which in 2020 went from being a part of our working life to the norm).
The role is that of Team Assistant / Events Assistant – the most junior position in the team, but a critically important one with varied and changing responsibilities, that offers many opportunities to acquire new skills and contacts. Salary is likely to be in the £25,000 to £30,000 range, but there is some flexibility depending on the candidate and what he or she brings to the role.
Core aspects of the role are supporting events, primarily the ownership of the registration process and the administration that supports the development and successful delivery of all events (large and small, digital and in person), building and managing relationships with member firms and sponsors (customers), managing mass mailshots and social media communications and maintaining our website and database of contacts. The role is admin intensive which requires attention to detail and responsiveness as well as a confidence and willingness to step up as required. The role also includes general team and finance support, and diary and office management. The ideal candidate will probably have experience of at least some of those activities, but it’s at least as important that you are a quick learner and good communicator, and able to flourish under pressure in a small, supportive but professional and demanding team.
