The most attentive of loyal readers may recall our past entanglement with the UK government's policy development of an idea supposedly aimed at dealing with empty units on the nation's high streets.

Rather than allowing it to fizzle out quietly, the government has now launched a consultation on making this idea a reality. We thought it worth flagging because the policy proposal does have implications for secured lenders against affected properties (we understand the LMA is also discussing it with its members). If you would like to feed into a CREFC Europe response, please let Peter know - otherwise, we're inclined to ignore this one.
