We have previously encouraged our real estate finance network to engage with the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard project, including by responding to its industry consultation that closes later this week.
For its next phase of work, the project is seeking financial support from industry participants. Most of the commitments it has received so far are from the direct investing side of the market – the large asset management firms and property consultancies. We believe that the closer involvement of a few lending institutions could make a vital contribution in ensuring that the Standard is useful for the whole market, aligning with the requirements of the full range of capital providers across the sector.
